Gregg Gethard relives his "Where In The World Is Carmen Sandiego" story tonight live

Ah, Where In The World Is Carmen Sandiego?. The hit PBS show by way of educational computer game turned more kids on to geography than anything else. Americans aren't that good at geography, after all, what's the point of learning about the OTHER areas of the world? You may remember a few years ago the report that six out of ten Americans could not identify Iraq on a map, well, the other four have WitWiCS? to thank for the knowledge.

Local comedian/writer Gregg Gethard was a contestant on one of the very first shows and will be reliving that fateful day with a live running commentary tonight at Connie's Ric Rac (1132 S. 9). In addition, folks can test their own knowledge with a geography bee with Jon Goff and Meg & Rob will act out comments from the Youtube video on stage.

But that's not all, as the story just seems to get bigger and bigger over the years. Through recent internet posts of the tale, Sean Altman of the acappella group Rockapella, who performed the theme song for the show, got in touch with Gregg. And now that the time has come for the live show, Sean will be in attendance to play songs from his recent project Jewmongous. So now is the perfect time to dust off that globe and finally, once and for all, figure out where Syria is. The show starts at 8PM and is $10 and BYOB.

Our spies have been working overtime to obtain details and only now can they safely report that Doogie Horner's THE MINISTRY OF SECRET JOKES, the most mysterious show in Philadelpha, returns tonight to the easy-to-find Fergie's Pub (1214 Sansom). It'll be a packed night with stand-up by Kent Haines, Carolyn Busa, Brendan Kennedy, Benny Michaels, and Jon Goff, an Omniana battle between longtime champion Brendan Kennedy and Benny Michaels, and the return of the game Hack!, in which comics have 60 seconds to write their own punchline to a hacky premise.

Here's top secret footage from last month's rap battle:

Welcome to the Terrordome invades Johnny Brenda's this Friday night

It's time again for the Philly sketch team up that is WELCOME TO THE TERRORDOME. While previous shows were at The M Room in lovely Fishtown, the groups will be infiltrating Johnny Brenda's (1201 Frankford) this time. Or as the Facebook event states: "we're taking a page out of George and Weezy's playbook, and moving on up to the east side... of Frankford Avenue."

Set to perform are Meg and Rob, hot off last week's two fantastic sold out shows at PHIT, The Sixth Borough, who delighted audiences over multiple nights with their recent show Depression Isn't Just A River in Egypt, the lovely gents of The Action Section, who also had two sold out nights at PHIT recently and finally Secret Pants, who give us a sneak peak of their show with the below opening video.

All this madness will be hosted by the Powerpoint guru Jon Goff.
