This weekend, fairly-new Philadelphia sketch group The Action Section (made up of Justin Damm, Billy Dee, Eric Humble, and Joe Gribbin) will hold four ghastly shows of comedy with the Philly Improv Theater in The Action Section Halloween Spectacular.
According to a recent interview in the PHIT newsletter, the group have done a few live shows in the past, but nothing as extensive as this. The bulk of their work consists of short videos on Youtube, a few of which we've included below.

Over the past few months, sketch group Secret Pants have been playing their crowd-pleasing game "Bush or Batman" live on stage with members of the audience. And now with the success of The Dark Knight, they've filmed it in the historical area of Philadelphia for everyone to enjoy. And maybe you'll learn something?
Paul T. of Secret Pants recently talked to Philebrity.com about his website LarryMendteIsNotACriminal.com. And, Secret Pants will be opening for comedian turned country singer Neil Hamburger August 7th at Johnny Brenda's.
Elsewhere, music and comedy collide. We can't believe we slept on it for so long, but the Fuck Yeah Fest is coming to the Starlight Ballroom on July 11th with Matt & Kim, Circle Jerks, Philadelphia's own Paint It Black, punk rock heroes Dillinger Four and stand-up comedians. Details are murky on who at this point, but it appears that Reggie Watts has been performing at some on the dates. Hannibal Buress and Josh Fadem will be performing. Philadelphia-area improv groups Cubed and Rare Bird Show will be performing in Baltimore Improv Festival next month. Rare Bird Show will also be holding workshops.
The Ministry of Secret Jokes is going on the road. They'll be performing at the Fuel House Coffee Co. in Vineland, New Jersey on August 9th. Host Doogie Horner was also recently interviewed by Uwishunu.com.

With all of the excitement this week, we almost forgot to post the photos we took from the Philly Sketchfest earlier this month. The two-day festival that included pretty much every sketch group in Philadelphia was a lot of fun and worked nicely in the beautiful theater at the Painted Bride. And, according to David Terruso, one of the producers, it raised $2,250 for the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America. Next year's festival promises to be bigger with the possibility of bringing in out-of-town groups.
We were only able to be at the Friday show, so unfortunately we don't have photos from Saturday night.

Die, Actor, Die host Don Montrey wanted it to get dirty at The Khyber last night for the Dirtiest Sketch in Philadelphia and it certainly did. Unspeakable, hilarious acts of debauchery, bodily fluids (A LOT of bodily fluids) and bad taste where on display and the judges, Johnny Goodtimes, Scott Johnston, and Adam Gertler had their hands full picking a winner. But in the end, Secret Pants reigned supreme again, becoming the champion for the second year in a row. Below is video of their sketch. It's obviously Not Safe For Work.
Last night the Helium Comedy Club held the Helium College Comedy Competition. Brian Kelly of Secret Pants was there as a host, judge and performer and he filed this report:
Congratulations to Boy Meets Tractor and Steve Gerben, winners of the sketch and stand-up portions of the program, respectfully. Hosts and judges for the evening, Secret Pants, noted it was a really tough decision but contractually, one had to be made. The judges stressed that all of the groups/comedians offered something funny and unique which made for a wonderful night of comedy. Keep your eyes peeled for more from these very talented performers in the future... Most notably, the sketch comedy winners, Boy Meets Tractor, who as part of their prize won a coveted slot at The First Annual Philadelphia Sketch Comedy Festival.
