It's time once again for THE MINISTRY OF SECRET JOKES, comic Doogie Horner's monthly game show/comedy show at Fergie's Pub (1214 Sansom) starting at 8PM.
This month, expect stand-up comedy from Ryan Carey, Dave Walk, David James, and Joey Dougherty, an Omniana battle between champion Brendan Kennedy and Luke Giordano and a good ole' rap battle. Plus, there will supposedly be a dancing bear. Yes, a dancing bear. Just don't look him in the eyes, that makes bears angry.

Tonight's show features Powerpoint Wizard Jon Goff, Justin Williams, and Pete Kuempel, music by Emily McGraw of The Sixth Borough, an Omniana battle between champ Brendan Kennedy and Mike Rainey plus The Three Faces of John Kensil (see above).
And wouldn't you know it, tonight is the one-year anniversary of the showcase. Yep, it's been a year since we put up the original poster of the show that has captured the hearts of many. Oh how far we've all come, right?

At this past Wednesday's Ministry of the Secret Jokes show at Fergie's, host Doogie Horner began the process of welcoming the audience into the super shady, super mysterious organization that with invisible eyes and hands that control the night of comedy. And finally it was time for the epic Omniana battle between blood rivals Steve Gerben and Champion Pat Barker. In the end, Gerben came through with the upset and is your new Omniana champion. We'll have video up soon.

And recently Comic Vs. Audience came across the beginning of a Ministry of Secret Jokes initiation ritual that we are bravely posting below. Like usual, don't say you saw it here when you are asked.
Leader: Raise your left hand, and follow along silently, while moving your lips, like hillbillies do when they’re trying to read: I understand the penalty of divulging any of the secret jokes is having my throat cut across, my tongue torn out by its roots, and my body buried in the rough sands of the sea at low water mark, where the tide ebbs and flows twice in twenty-four hours, should I ever knowingly violate this my obligation. Ignoring the pleas of Doogie Horner of no recordings, we managed to covertly film the first Ministry of Secret Jokes show April 30th at Fergie's Pub in Center City. The night was full of funny stand-up comics, an Omniana battle between Pat Barker and Kent Haines, and more.
